Mission 3-Digital Journalism
Process
For the process since we knew what we where doing and we had the time to complete this mission it was quite easy to finish it, it started off with the development phase where we all came together and decided what we wanted the podcast to be structured like. We had already know that we wanted to base it off a Joe Rogan podcast because his podcasts are the greatest one on the internet to date.
So basically once we had our style for the podcast set out we each took a different topic to talk about on the podcast, I took Instagram and how they portray there news feed, Jack took Snapchat and the same again how do they portray there new, and Mark chose Twitter for his part. We then found a room that was quiet enough and not too echoey so the sound quality of the video wouldn't be bad we set up the camera and the microphone on the computer and began to record, we brought up our topics throughout the podcast and had a discussion on each, comparing how each application is different to one another, the talking lasted about 10 to 15 minutes and we covered every topic that we could on Digital Journalism throughout.
Now it was the editing phase. The editing phase of the video took the longest out of everything firstly from not being able to use final cut pro because on windows 10 you cannot use final cut pro because it is not free and you have to pay a monthly subscription to use it so we had to use an alternative. We finally used this application called blender.
After that we uploaded the video and the sound file to a computer and began the editing process, overall the editing process took about 10 hour to do, with trying to sync up all the sounds with the videos and also trying to put decent music in the background. Then we also had to add in some screen recordings from our phones to show the different apps and how then portray their news feeds. This editing process was quite hard to complete because we tried to up our anti from the last podcast that we did and make it very visually appealing to the audience. We then had to finish it off by adding a start and finish to the video, this didn't take that long because all it was basically just adding a few words of what we where doing in the podcast and also the ending was just saying thanks very much for listening.
The one major problem that we had with this project was actually the filming of the podcast itself. It was so hard to get it right because we dint want any editing to be in the podcast we just wanted it to be the raw footage and every time we would film it the phone would turn off or we would laugh and it would look unprofessional but overall it was an enjoyable experience to do the podcast itself and the editing
